The first day of classes this week for the Fall Semester at Lanier Technical College set a new enrollment record for the school.
Officials say the enrollment for morning classes on opening day totaled 4,613 students, a number that was expected to continue to increase throughout the day and evening as more students arrived on campus for afternoon and evening classes.
This year's new record tops the old one of 4,432 students which was reached in Fall Quarter 2010. Nearly 2,700 new students arrived on the College's five campuses this year and joined more than 1,900 returning students.
“We are thrilled with our enrollment growth, and we are especially pleased that the record enrollment is across all of the College's five campuses," said Dr. Ray Perren, Lanier Tech President.
