There's been an increase in the number of thefts from vehicles in the South Hall area in recent days.
"In the past week or so there has been a significant increase in entered autos in the areas south of Flowery Branch,' according to a posting on the Flowery Branch Police Department's Facebook page. "We have also had a few reported within our city limits as well."
The posting goes on to suggest ways car and truck owners can protect their property.
"In light of these circumstances, we wanted to remind everyone of some simple steps to help reduce your chance of becoming a victim of this crime. First please be sure to always remove valuables (purses, electronics, firearms, etc) from your vehicle each night, Second always be sure to lock your vehicle, Third if possible leave exterior lighting on at night to illuminate the area your vehicle is parked in and lastly if you see suspicious activity then please call 911."
Police say even if nothing of value was taken from you it is still important to notify law enforcement "as documenting the occurrences helps us with the investigation into who the suspect(s) is/are."
