Drought conditions move into northeast Georgia again

Drought conditions have moved into Hall County and other parts of northeast Georgia over the past week as unseasonably hot and dry conditions continue.

The U.S. Drought Monitor reported Thursday that an area along and either side of a line from Rabun County to Forsyth County is considered "abnormally dry."  But, two pockets of counties on either side of the affected area remain drought-free.

The worst conditions in Georgia are in the southern part of metro Atlanta and in east-central Georgia where "severe" and "moderate" drought conditions prevail.

Meanwhile, temperatures across north Georgia continue to be 8-10 degrees above normal and rainfall remains scarce,
