The Oakwood City Council approved, with conditions a tabled request to rezone a portion of property on Martin Road from multifamily residential to highway business.
Councilman Todd Wilson made the motion to approve the application of Tyler Gaines for rezoning almost 15 acres at 4207 Martin Road.
The requested was tabled in August after neighbors addressed the council with concerns.
At Monday's meeting, Wilson requested the motion be approved on the condition that the businesses are limited to the following:
- restaurant, including drive-in and drive-out facilities
- retail and trade establishments
- enclosed and unenclosed open air businesses
- finance institutions with or without a drive up teller or ATM
- insurance and real estate establishments
- offices, including medical and professional offices
- automotive services, including service stations and car washes
- miscellaneous services
- business services
- health services, including personal
"Hotels and/or motels shall be prohibited on the subject tract of land and property shall be limited to no more than six out parcels on the subject tract of land. And, the final site plans for each out parcel shall be presented to the city council of Oakwood for approval," Wilson concluded.
During discussion, Councilwoman Pat Jones asked to clarify that each time there was a new site plan for one of the six out parcels, it would be on the council's agenda.
"So they'll be coming back six times?" she asked.
"Unless they present six out parcels at one time," said Wilson.
Councilman Dwight Wood seconded and it was approved by the council unanimously.
