Travel near downtown Dahlonega Saturday will be limited as law enforcement tries to keep traffic to a minimum around a rally and an expected counter-demonstration on the downtown square.
The American Patriot Rally has been billed by organizers as a gathering in support of President Trump, but protesters say they'll show up to voice their opposition, saying the organizers of the rally are white supremacists.
The City of Dahlonega said barricades will be set up in the downtown area to allow access to businesses that choose to remain open, although a number of businesses have opted to close in light of the planned events.
Local and state law enforcement will have a presence around the demonstration sites.
For those traveling into Dahlonega from the south side of the city, traffic will be diverted from S. Chestatee Street onto Martin Street and then onto S. Grove Street.
