The Gainesville-Hall County Community Council on Aging will honor Governor & Mrs. Nathan Deal with its 5th Annual Quality of Life Award next month.
The Deals were chosen to receive the award "because of their combined commitment to improving the quality of life for residents throughout Gainesville and Hall County" and the state and the country, according to a news release announcing plans for the event.
They are former longtime residents of Hall County who now live in Habersham County.
The Gainesville-Hall County Community Council on Aging is a nonprofit advocacy organization for older adults in the greater Hall County community. For the past 30 years, it has targeted its efforts at bringing attention and leverage state and federal funding for the area's Meals on Wheels and the Senior Life Center programs. Proceeds from each Quality of Life Ceremony go toward these programs and other senior initiatives.
This year's ceremony will be held in the Ramsey Conference Center at Lanier Technical College on October 17 at 6:00 p.m. For sponsorship and ticket information, contact Phillippa Lewis Moss at 770-503-3340.
