An Oakwood man was the suspect shot and killed by Gainesville Police Department officers Friday, Sept. 20, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said the agency's Cleveland office was called around 5 p.m. Friday to handle the Gainesville investigation.
"Preliminary information indicates that just prior to 5 p.m., 911 received a call reporting a man, later identified as Adam Paul English, age 21, of Oakwood, GA, waving a gun and walking in the area of 1075 Jesse Jewell Parkway, Northeast Georgia Physicians Group Surgical Associates," Miles wrote in a press statement.

"English was given verbal commands, but he did not comply with them. English was shot multiple times by two Gainesville officers," Miles said.
The GBI said officers rendered aid to English and he was taken to the hospital where he died. The GBI Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy on English's body.
