Because of a large amount of donations, Goodwill of North Georgia has temporarily closed 25 of its donation centers, including the facility on Shallowford Road in Gainesville.

According to information on the agency website, all store locations remain open. There are 56 donation centers in the area, so while half of those will be closed for a time, there are others close by where donations can be dropped off. Follow this link to see information on alternate drop-off sites. Goodwill officials are asking that no donations be left outside the centers that have been closed.

Public Relations Director Teena Hawkins told the Atlanta Journal Constitution the closures will give employees time to sort through the overflow of donations and prepare for a busy holiday season for Goodwill's 67 stores in North Georgia.

The Goodwill donation center in Oakwood remains open, but the Gainesville location on Shallowford Road is among those closed on a temporary basis. (File photo)
