Atlanta man arrested on marijuana trafficking charges in Habersham County

An Atlanta man has been charged with marijuana trafficking after he was arrested during a traffic stop in Tallulah Falls over the weekend.

The Georgia State Patrol stopped Donald Pickett, 51, on Sunday on Georgia Highway 15 South, according to information released Tuesday by the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO).

Troopers said Pickett was on his way from North Carolina to Atlanta when he was stopped. At the time of the traffic stop, troopers found approximately five pounds of marijuana, 500 grams of THC wax, THC oil and THC gummies inside the vehicle. ARDEO placed the street value of the marijuana at $6,000 and the value of the THC items at $15,000. 

Pickett has been charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, felony possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of Schedule I drugs, possession with intent to distribute Schedule I drugs and driving under the influence. 

ARDEO has taken the lead in the ongoing investigation.
