Hall County jury trials have been canceled for next week because of rising numbers of coronavirus cases in the county.
A statement from court administrators cited a "spike" in COVID-19 cases.
"After a careful review of the most recent Georgia Dept of Public Health data, it appears Hall County is experiencing a spike in COVID cases. Therefore the jury trial week scheduled for Nov. 30th is canceled for safety reasons," said an email statement.
Any Hall County residents that had been scheduled for jury duty next week may contact the Hall County Clerk's Office at 770-531-7025. Information is also available online at www.nejc.org.
Data from the Georgia Department of Public Health shows 758 confirmed cases of the virus over the last two weeks. To date, Hall County has recorded 12,021 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 190 deaths resulting from the virus.
Hospitalizations for COVID-19 at Northeast Georgia Health System facilities are on the rise, as well. Thursday's hospitalizations numbered 146. That number is up from 133 on Wednesday and up from 80 on Nov. 1.
