Richard Brooks of Ontario, Canada has been named the sole finalist for the Banks County economic developer position.
A final vote by the county commission to hire Brooks will come at its March 10 meeting, said Human Resources Director Arlene Ivey, who this week released Brooks’ resume to the media for the required 14-day posting of him as a finalist.
Brooks holds a professional engineering designation from Professional Engineers of Ontario, 2002-2010; a master of business administration from Schulich School of Business, 2006-2008; and an honors bachelor of environmental engineering from University of Guelph, 1992-1996.
His employment experience includes:
- Environmental engineer for Virginia Department of Environmental Quality from 1996-1998,
- Regional director of strategy and business development for Azurix Water Utility from 1998-2000,
- Principal and senior project manager for Khafra Engineering Consulting from 2000-2002, when the firm delivered a $1-million geographic information system infrastructure project for the City of Atlanta under budget and ahead of schedule,
- Managing director of Brooks Management Consulting from 1996-2016,
- Director of strategy and business development for MCIS Language Services from 2009-2014,
- Chief marketing officer for Difenda Cyber Security Technology, and
- Executive director of Greater Barrie Chamber of Commerce from 2017 to present.
Brooks is in the process of relocating to Georgia.
The position formerly was held by Hannah Mullins from 2017 to 2019.
