A Gillsville man arrested last August in a child molestation case is now facing additional charges in the same investigation.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office said in a Tuesday afternoon press release that Michael Anthony Maxwell, 46, was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor on Friday, Feb. 28. 2020. The additional charges were the result of forensic testing on an electronic device seized at the time of the original arrest at Maxwell's home on Turning Leaf Drive.

The analysis of the device found that Maxwell had created a visual image of himself and the 12-year-old male victim in the original case involved in sexually explicit conduct. The molestation of the child reportedly occurred in May 2019.

Maxwell has been in the Hall County Jail since his arrest on Aug. 5, 2019.
