A Dahlonega man was killed Wednesday in a two-vehicle accident in the Murrayville area, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
GSP Cpl. M. Patterson said the fatal collision was reported at 11:48 a.m. on Thompson Bridge Road (GA 60) north of Tomacheche Trail.
Patterson identified the victim as Matthew Novotny, 24, the driver of a 1991 Dodge Shadow.
He said Novotny was traveling southbound on Thompson Bridge Road when he failed to maintain his lane of travel.
"[The vehicle's] right wheels traveled onto the west shoulder of GA 60," Patterson write in an email statement. "[Novotny] over-corrected causing [his] vehicle to rotate counter-clockwise as it traveled back onto GA 60 and into the northbound lane of GA 60."
At that point, a northbound tractor trailer owned by Fieldale Farms Corporation struck Novotny's car.
"After impact, [both vehicles] traveled off of GA 60 and traveled down an embankment on the west side of GA 60," Patterson said. The victim's vehicle then hit a tree.
Patterson said the driver of the rig was not injured.
The State Patrol does not plan to file charges in the fatal crash.
