CLEVELAND — James Miles Head, a candidate who qualified last week for White County surveyor in this year's election, has withdrawn his name from consideration.

Head, who qualified as a Democrat on Friday, asked White County Elections Superintendent Garrison Baker to withdraw his name after a review of his qualifications showed Head was not a registered surveyor.

Baker said a county the size of White County requires a registered surveyor.

Baker said Head’s name will not be included on the May 19 General Primary Ballot.
