*Known for its strong connection to the New York art world, Brenau University hopes to introduce the community to artists from the other side of the country with L.A. Stories, an exhibit in the Leo Castelli Gallery running through May 7. L.A. Stories is curated by Paul Paiement, a California-based artist and tenured professor in the Art Department at Cypress College in Orange County, California.
*Maple Street in Gainesville will be closed 1:30-5:00 Monday as work continues on the expansion and renovation of the Hall County Library at Maple and West Academy.
*Grants announced this week by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources include $2,970 to Lavonia Elementary School to create a monarch and pollinator garden of native plants at the school as part of a community project.

*Gateway to Hope 2020, a fundraiser for Gainesville Gateway Domestic Violence Center, is scheduled March 27, 6:30 p.m., at Chattahoochee Country Club.
*The Georgia Mountains Regional Commission’s Career Coach will visit the Good Samaritan Food Bank in Gainesville on March 25 and March 27 from 9:00-11:00 each day and the Sharon Forks Library in Cumming March 25, 11:00-2:30, to help job-seekers in their search for work.
*The 3rd Annual block pARTy will be held in downtown Gainesville May 8, 6:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m., featuring works of art for sale for $100 (or less) to raise awareness and support for public art and working artists in the region.
