Following an investigation that lasted nearly three months, Hall County Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested a Murrayville man for the alleged sexual abuse of a young girl.
David Calloway Conner, 46, was arrested Wednesday, March 18, according to Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth.
Conner was charged with aggravated child molestation, statutory rape and child molestation and remained in the Hall County Jail at last report.
The victim in the case is a female under the age of 16. Investigators said the suspect knew the girl prior to the reported abuse.
"Sheriff’s Office detectives began the investigation on Dec. 27, 2019, after receiving a referral from the Division of Family and Children Services," Booth said in a media statement. "The victim had disclosed the abuse to a family member."
Booth said the initial investigation showed Conner attempted to have sexual intercourse with the victim and performed oral sex on her. He also told the victim to touch his genitals.
The alleged abuse occurred during a six month period in 2019, according to the investigation.
