A plane with a landing gear issue landed safely at Gwinnett County Briscoe Field in Lawrenceville at 9:23 p.m. Saturday.
The airport’s control tower notified firefighters at 8:46 p.m. that an inbound Cessna 320 was having landing gear issues, according to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services. The plane performed several low approaches to have the landing gear observed, with all gear observed in the down position on the final approach.
When the plane touched down at 9:23 p.m., the front landing gear subsequently collapsed, bringing the plane to a stop on the runway, a GCFES Facebook post states. No fire or additional hazards were found upon inspection by fire crews.
The pilot was the only person on board and no injuries were reported.
The single runway at the airport, located just off Ga. 316 and Ga. 20, remains closed pending Federal Aviation Administration authorization to remove the plane.
The remainder of the airport is open and operational.
