Local poultry producer Wayne Farms LLC is holding an online poultry sale for customers in the Hall County area.
The company said in a press statement it wanted to hold the event because chicken and other food products have often been limited at grocery stores during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
Clint Rivers, President and CEO of Wayne Farms, said the poultry sale was a way for the company to support communities and make chicken available at an affordable price. “We live here, we work here and we know how hard it is right now for some families to deal with the financial hardships this outbreak has created,” said Rivers.
The company said the chicken will be sold online via retailer "The Savory Butcher". Customers must place an order and pay online. Saturday, May 2 is the pick-up date at Christ Place Church in Flowery Branch. No products will be sold at the pick-up site, and customers must bring proof-of-purchase with them.
The products available for purchase are fresh, never-frozen boneless, skinless chicken breasts, tenders and thighs. All three products will be sold for $1.25 per lb. and packaged in bulk 40 lb. boxes that have been inspected, certified, sealed and USDA approved. Wayne Farms said the two companies plan to offer future sales in other areas served by Wayne Farms.
Christ Place Church, the pick-up location, is located at 3428 Atlanta Hwy Flowery Branch, GA, 30542. Available time slots for pick up are 6:00 - 9:00 a.m.; 9:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m.; 1 - 4 p.m.; and 4:30 -7:30 p.m. The pick-up location will be organized as a drive-through and chicken will be loaded from refrigerated trucks into the purchaser’s vehicle. All CDC guidelines for social distancing will be followed and the staff of Savory Butcher will be wearing gloves and masks as safety precautions
A subsidiary of Continental Grain Company, Wayne Farms owns and operates 11 fresh and further-processed facilities throughout the Southeast, produces more than 2.6 billion pounds of poultry products each year, and employs more than 9,000 individuals.
