THOMASTON — Georgia High School Association Executive Director Robin Hines said Wednesday everything is still a go as far as putting on fall sports around the state.

It was believed Hines and the GHSA would make a statement Wednesday about the future of sports moving forward for the fall after he and the organization's sports-medicine advisory committee got together with the Georgia Department of Public Health to discuss that group's concerns about conducting fall sports. He said that was not the purpose of Wednesday's meeting.

"(Wasn't) a trustees meeting. It was a sports medicine advisory council. They don't make decisions," Hines said.

"It's the same today as it was yesterday."

Which means that for now, girls fastpitch softball starts Thursday, volleyball next week, and football is still on for Sept. 4.

AccessWDUN Sports will continue to monitor the situation and update things as we get them.
