Even though Dragon Con will be held virtually this weekend due to COVID-19, the LifeSouth blood drive will still be happening at all LifeSouth locations.
Dragon Con is not only one of the largest pop culture conventions in the U.S., it is also LifeSouth's largest blood drive with thousands giving blood over the Labor Day Weekend in Atlanta.
The donations usually help with summer shortages. This year, they are even more important because of the blood drive cancellations at schools, universities and businesses.
Donors who give blood at any LifeSouth blood drive or donor center Thursday through Monday will receive a $10 electronic gift card and a commemorative Virtual Dragon Con Blood Drive t-shirt, while supplies last.
LifeSouth is the primary provider of blood to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Atlanta Medical Center, North Fulton Regional Hospital, Spalding Medical Center, Sylvan Grove Hospital and Habersham Medical Center.
A list of donor centers is available at LifeSouth's website. Donors must be at least 17 years old, or 16 with parental permission, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. A photo I.D. is required to donate.
