A Gainesville man who allegedly stole a vehicle from an older family member is now charged with two felonies.
Jessy Lee Williams, 26, faces exploitation of an elder person charges and theft by taking after Hall County Sheriff's deputies arrested him Sunday in the 400 block of Shallowford Road.
According to Public Information Officer Derreck Booth, the 77 year old man and Williams had previously lived together, and Williams took a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder from the residence on Antioch Lane on August 12. The car is the only method of transportation for the older man.
Williams also stole the man's wallet, according to Booth, which contained financial transaction cards.
The victim was able to help deputies locate the Pathfinder, abandoned at a grocery store in the 1000 block of Jesse Jewell Parkway, on August 19 and it was recovered, Booth said.
Booth said deputies obtained warrants for Williams's arrest at that time, and he was arrested Sunday. At last report, Williams remained in the Hall County Jail on Tuesday.
