A Gainesville man was killed and a Maysville woman was injured Thursday night in a two-vehicle accident in Jackson County.
Troopers from Georgia State Patrol Post 32 in Athens were called to the scene of crash on Plainview Road near Jackson Woods Road outside of Maysville just after 6 p.m.
"The investigation found that a red Nissan Pickup was traveling east on Plainview Road when the driver failed to maintain his lane, and lost control," said SFC T.J. Meyer in an email statement. "The Nissan crossed the center line and struck a white Toyota RAV 4 which was traveling west."
The driver of the Nissan, identified as Donald Wayne Frazier, 55, of Gainesville was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville where he died from his injuries.
The driver of the Toyota SUV, a 33-year-old woman from Maysville, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
Meyer said the accident remains under investigation, although no charges are expected to be filed.
