A Gainesville man remains in the Hall County Jail charged with a sexual assault that was reported on Aug. 27, 2021.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office said Gerald Hubert Roak, 57, turned himself in at the jail on Saturday, Oct. 2.
Roak faces two counts of rape, both involving the same victim. The alleged assaults occurred on the same date at the victim's home on Browns Bridge Road. The sheriff's office said the victim reported the crimes on Aug. 27 while in the hospital.
Detectives said Roak and the victim knew one another.
The case remains under investigation, and authorities are releasing no further details at this time.
