A Jefferson man pleaded guilty in federal court Friday to his involvement in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Glen Mitchell “Mitch” Simon made a plea deal and admitted guilt to a misdemeanor of demonstrating inside the Capitol.
Simon could face a six-month sentence and up to $5,000 in fines for the misdemeanor.
The AJC reports Simon is the second Georgian to admit wrongdoing in the riot. 15 Georgians have been charged for alleged roles in the riot.
Simon was first arrested in May after the FBI discovered surveillance video allegedly showing him inside the Capitol.
Prior to his arrest, Simon had denied entering the Capitol or taking photos or video in Washington.
Simon’s sentencing is currently scheduled for January, according to the AJC.
