A 21-year-old Barrow County man was killed in a motorcycle accident in Athens Sunday night.

Athens-Clarke County police told The Athens Banner-Herald the fatal accident happened just off the Epps Bridge Parkway overpass around 9:30 p.m.

Investigators believe Marlon Rosales of Bethlehem was driving his 2021 Yamaha MT-03 at the flyover ramp when the bike left the travel lane and struck the concrete bridge guardrail. Rosales and the bike went over the guardrail and off the bridge and then landed in a wooded area bordering Atlanta Highway.

Police told the newspaper a homeless man who lives under the bridge did not witness the crash, but he found the wreck scene and reported it. They believe if the man had not been there, the victim's body could have gone undetected for a long time.

Athens-Clarke County investigators are asking anyone who might have witnessed the crash to contact them at 762-400-7364.
