It's not too early for the holiday season in Gwinnett County, where employees are busy decorating a 40-foot Norway Spruce delivered earlier this week to the grounds of the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse in Lawrenceville.
County crews transported the large tree from Sugar Mountain, North Carolina Monday and installed it on the courthouse grounds Tuesday.
"This tree is important because it symbolizes the holiday season. It’s the 34th year and everyone starts getting excited about what’s to come,” said Parks and Recreation Manager Tina Pangle.
The annual tree lighting ceremony is scheduled for Thanksgiving Day night. Pangle said Santa Claus will give the signal for the tree to be lit at 6:30 p.m. The tree will remain on display throughout the holiday season.
The Gwinnett Historic Courthouse is located at 185 West Crogan Street in Lawrenceville
