A man who has been stealing merchandise from Harbor Freight stores across the Atlanta area is believed to be responsible for a theft Sunday at a store in Lawrenceville.
The Gwinnett County Police Department has identified the serial shoplifter as Jared Pierce.
"Pierce targets welders, plasma cutters and generators during his thefts," said Cpl. Collin Flynn in a Monday morning press statement.
Flynn said Pierce has shoplifted thousands of dollars worth of tools and other items over the last 14 months.
"During [the Lawrenceville] incident, he loaded up a dolly full of welders and walked right past an employee who tried to stop him as he fled," Flynn said.
Pierce is 6'02" and weighs approximately 245 pounds. He has long dreadlocks that he often pulls back. He also walks with a distinct limp. Flynn said Pierce has been known to use multiple vehicles during his thefts.
Anyone who recognizes Pierce or has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300. To remain anonymous, tipsters can contact Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or log on to www.stopcrimeATL.com.
