Habersham County Commissioner Tim Stamey was recently awarded a certificate by ACCG for successfully completing the core requirements in the Lifelong Learning Academy.
The Lifelong Learning Academy is a collaboration between ACCG and the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at the University of Georgia. According to a release from the Habersham Commission Office, it was created with input from county commissioners who identified courses based on the issues and decision-making challenges regularly faced by county officials.
“County officials are faced with many challenges and ever-evolving circumstances under which they must govern Georgia’s local communities,” ACCG Executive Director Dave Wills said in the release. “The Lifelong Learning Academy was created to help them navigate those challenges. I commend county leaders such as Tim Stamey who take full advantage of educational opportunities to further their knowledge on how to better serve their communities.”
The Lifelong Learning Academy offers a variety of courses that are regularly reviewed and adjusted to remain relevant and engaging, according to the release.
“As elected leaders we should strive to learn as much as we can to better serve,” Commissioner Stamey said in the release. “We’re all fairly new Commissioners on our board, and I’m grateful that even with COVID, I’ve been able to finish all my classes for full certification.”
