In the last months, I have gotten to know John King, the Insurance Commissioner appointed by Governor Kemp. King has a military and law enforcement background, and he knows how to be a leader and a follower. That is one of the lessons he has taught me about leadership. He is also the first Latino constitutional officer in Georgia and Is running in the 2022 election for a full term. During the pandemic, he was tapped to handle logistics of goods and of the vaccine roll out and took on the hard tasks. On top of that, he was deployed for a short time to the Indian Nations to help distribute the vaccines to that group. A very busy guy.
King has travelled the state reaching out in Latino communities to urge them to stay safe and get vaccinated. He is fluent in Spanish and is able to reach the Hispanic community where they live. I have watched him interact with people and he has a compassion and understanding you do not often see. In addition, he understands how to lead on all levels. As they say, from the breakroom to the boardroom.
His work as Insurance Commissioner is not finished. The problems the department has had over the years will take time to fix but John King is the man to do it. He is the future of the Republican Party in Georgia, but more importantly, I think he is the future of this state.
I do not usually get out so early in a race, but John King is one of the best public servants I have seen in Georgia, Democrat or Republican, in my lifetime. He is a veteran, family man, servant and I am proud support him.
