Several Northeast Georgia counties will be receiving federal aid to help in the rebuilding efforts after severe storms hit the area earlier this year.

The storms that hit Georgia in March greatly affected many in the North Georgia area. Some of those areas are still working to repair damages. Now, these communities will receive federal aid, thanks to a declaration today from the President.

President Biden issued a statement that assistance will be given to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the areas most affected by the March 25 and 26 storms and tornadoes that came through the area.

Federal funding will be made available to eligible local governments, as well as some private non-profit organizations, for emergency work and repair, or replacement, of facilities damaged.

The full list of counties included in that aid is Coweta, Fannin, Gilmer, Heard, Lumpkin, Pickens, Rabun and White Counties.
