Body of missing swimmer found in Lake Lanier

Update, May 9, 1:37 p.m.:

Just before 1 p.m. today, Game Wardens found the body of a man who went missing yesterday and identified him as Anthony Saintil, Jr., 23, of Stockbridge.

According to Mark McKinnon, they located the body with sector scan sonar at the mouth of Balus Creek on Lake Lanier with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. 

The Hall County Sheriff's Office dive team recovered the body in 44 feet of water.

 

Original story, May 8:

The search for a missing swimmer who failed to resurface in Lake Lanier has been suspended and is expected to resume on Sunday morning.

Details are limited, but Mark McKinnon with the Georgia Department of Resources said on Saturday that the swimmer was last seen after jumping off a pontoon boat in the Flat Creek area.

No other information has been released.
