On the two-year anniversary of the death of Hall County Sheriff's Deputy Blane Dixon, three of the young men convicted in his murder will be sentenced.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, July 8 in Hall County Superior Court for Hector Garcia-Solis, Edgar Velazquez and London Clements. All three were convicted a week ago in the murder of the 28-year-old deputy.
The death penalty is not an option for sentencing, since Garcia-Solis, Velazquez and Clements were all 17 at the time of the murder.
Judge Jason Deal will pronounce sentence against the three men, who were tried at the same time.
A jury spent about four hours in deliberation prior to handing down convictions on the following charges:
HECTOR GARCIA SOLIS (15 total counts)
- malice murder
- felony murder predicated on aggravated assault on a peace officer
- felony murder predicated on conspiracy
- aggravated assault on a peace officer
- conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary
- 6 counts of burglary in the second degree
- entering an automobile
- 2 counts of criminal attempt to commit burglary in the second degree
- theft by receiving stolen property
EDGAR VELAZQUEZ (14 total counts)
- malice murder
- felony murder predicated on aggravated assault on a peace officer
- felony murder predicated on conspiracy
- aggravated assault on a peace officer
- conspiracy to commit robbery and burglary
- theft by receiving stolen property
- 6 counts of burglary in the second degree
- entering an automobile
- criminal attempt to commit burglary in the second degree
