Retired Gainesville educator and local historian Helen M. Martin will sign copies of her inaugural book Beyond the Jewels and Grandeur: The Houses on North Green Street at an event on Aug. 18, 2021 at Central Baptist Church in Gainesville.
The book offers a look behind the doors of 40 historic homes on Gainesville's most iconic boulevard. Martin also gives a glimpse of 20 homes that have been replaced by other structures over the years.
Those who have pre-ordered books will be able to pick them up the day of the signing. Additional copies will be available for sale, as well.
The public is invited to attend the event between 1 and 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 18. The book signing will be held in the Atrium at Central Baptist, which is located at 785 Main Street in Gainesville.
