Community meetings will help citizens of Gwinnett County to better interact with the county’s Board of Education. The goal is to help communities across Gwinnett to be able to have face-to-face interaction with the board members, as well as with the new Superintendent Calvin Watts.
There will be five meetings taking place around the county. One meeting will be held in each board member’s district.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, these “area board meetings” used to be a common practice in Gwinnett County Public Schools, but have not happened in recent years.
During the meetings, new Superintendent Watts will be able to share pertinent information alongside his vision and priorities. Parents can give input on topics they would like to discuss by partaking in a survey at the meetings.
The meetings will take place as follows:
August 24, Grayson High School, Loganville
August 26, Mill Creek High, Hoschton
August 31, North Gwinnett High, Suwanee
September 14, Berkmar High, Lilburn
October 5, McClure Health Science High School, Duluth
“Meet and Greets” will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the official start time at 7 p.m. Masks are required and seating will be limited for social distancing, but the meetings will be streamed on the Gwinnett County Public Schools website.
Interpreters will be available at the meetings for anyone who speaks Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese and Chinese.
The public may attend any meeting regardless of district of residence.
