The South Hall Rotary Club welcomed Brenda McMillan as its new president last week.

McMillan has been with the club for five years and, according to a release from the club, was offered the position two previous times but declined. This time, McMillan accepted the position.

"The Chairman of the Lake Lanier Islands Development Authority Board thought it would be a good thing for me to get into a leadership position, so that was really the final push to get me to accept,” McMillian said.

In the release, the club said its members are thankful to have McMillan as their new president. McMillan said she wants to see the club become more involved in the South Hall community.

"We just did the (baby) formula drive and the school supply drive, and that’s the kind of thing I want to do more of,” McMillan said. “We also filled the Little Free Libraries, so I want to continue to do that as well. (I want to) increase our fundraising so that we can give more to our community.”

McMillan has a degree in horticulture and is also the business operations manager for the LLIDA.
