An emergency lane closure on I-85 northbound will impact Friday's morning commute.
The Georgia Department of Transportation closed one northbound lane at mile marker 144.5 following a 9 p.m. crash Thursday night affecting the bridge over the Oconee River.
Representatives from contractor E.R. Snell were on scene assessing the damage overnight Thursday, but GDOT officials say the outer lane will be closed through Friday, Dec. 2.
That means morning traffic will be affected as traffic is reduced from one lane from mile marker 144 to 145 in a closure expected to last through the day.
The damage occurred in a section that is part of Phase 3 of the I-85 widening project.
