The City of Gainesville's annual holiday celebration, Christmas on Green Street, returns Sunday beginning at 2 p.m.
The event will feature a parade, movie, food, the Rotary tree lighting and visits to the numerous historic homes on Green Street, among other things.
The schedule for 2022's event is as follows:
- 2 p.m. - Street closures
- 2 - 7 p.m. - Christmas at the Civic Center
- 2 p.m. - Holiday movie begins at Civic Center
- 3 - 7:30 p.m. - Food Truck Festival
- 4 p.m. - Christmas Parade
- 5 - 7 p.m. - Activities/Open Houses
- 6:15 - 6:30 p.m. - Rotary Tree Lighting
- 8 p.m. - Roads re-open
The parade will start at Green Street's split with Riverside Drive and will move south, ending at Green Street's intersection with Spring Street.
Once the parade finishes, attendees can visit the historic homes and enjoy musical groups, musicians, face painters, storytellers, juggler Santa Clause, miniature train rides, food trucks and more.
A listing for the event on the City of Gainesville's website states the event is estimated to draw 10,000 people. The city encourages the community to arrive early and dress warmly to secure a parking spot.

- City Park, Glenwood Drive NE
- North Parking Deck: 100 Brenau Ave NE
- Hall County Parking Facility: 225 Green Street SE
- Main Street Parking Deck: 301 Main Street SW
