A 5-year-old was transported to Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta after a two-vehicle collision in Habersham County Saturday afternoon.
An SUV carrying two adults and five juveniles was traveling southbound on Ga. 105 when the vehicle approached a private parking lot at 109 Habersham Hills Circle.
The Georgia State Patrol says the accident occurred when a pickup truck leaving the parking lot failed to yield to the SUV, and attempted to cross Ga. 105 ahead of that vehicle.
The pickup truck instead struck the SUV on its left side, apparently disabling both vehicles after both suffered heavy damage.
One child in the SUV was transported from the scene for treatment, while the other four children in the vehicles suffered minor injuries. The driver of the SUV, Demorest resident Jesus Quiles Zamora and his adult passenger, Samantha Quiles were apparently unharmed.
The at-fault driver of the pickup truck, identified by troopers as Eduardo Ramirez of Baldwin was cited for Failure to Yield.
The accident took place at roughly 3:30 p.m.
