1. Macon men charged with robbery as Maysville man recovers from robbery
The Commerce Police Department has charged 20-year-old Jaiquan Chase and 21-year-old Dailan Alston, of Macon, with two counts of aggravated assault and armed robbery and one count of possession of a firearm, following a robbery of a Maysville couple on Saturday afternoon.
The two men were waiting in the parking lot of a business on U.S. 441 in Commerce in a silver Honda. When the couple returned to their car, the men robbed the 62– year– old woman at gunpoint. Her 68--year– old husband was shot in the upper chest by a single gunshot while trying to help her.
The two men fled the scene after completing the robbery. The victims were able to provide responding officers with the last three digits of the tag number, and detectives were able to determine the remainder of the tag number and that the suspects had traveled into Banks County.
A Banks County deputy sheriff located the suspect vehicle a few hours later in Crossing Place Apartments. Detectives and, with the help of community members, were able to identify the apartment that the occupants of the suspect vehicle had entered. The men inside the apartment matched the description of the suspects in the robbery and were detained. After searching the apartment, evidence was gathered that confirmed the detective's findings.

2. Hall Co. crews put out boat fire at Holiday Marina
Hall county fire and rescue put out a commercial fire at Lake Lanier Islands Parkway in Buford on Sunday afternoon.
When the crew arrived at the scene, they found a boat covered in black smoke. The boat was in the no wake zone, just 100 feet away from shore.
Kimberlie Brady, Spokeswoman for Hall County Fire Rescue told AccessWDUN
that three individuals were on the boat when the fire broke out, but were able to safely flee the vessel by jumping into the lake and swimming to a nearby boat.
First responders took two of the passengers to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for "minor injuries".

3. Body of Murphy, N.C. man recovered after an apparent drowning on Lake Nottely.
The body of 38-year-old Michael Jason Kolar of Murphy, NC was recovered from Lake Nottely on Friday afternoon, according to the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
On the evening of July20, Kolar went snorkeling near the boat ramp at Nottely Dam in Blairsville.
Union County Sheriff’s Capt. Daren Osborn said the body surfaced close to the shoreline in some 15 to 20 feet of water. According to Osborn, alcohol was involved.
The body will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s State Crime Lab in Decatur for an autopsy. Read More
4. Four arrests made in multi agency drug investigation
A traffic stop in Forsyth County on July 4, turned into a multi-agency drug and weapons investigation.
After being pulled over by a Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy for suspicion of a DUI, a driver and his passenger were arrested.
According to a press release from the Johns Creek Police Department, 32 kilograms of methamphetamine and two handguns were seized. It was discovered that one of the guns was stolen. Brian Vasquez, 28, of Roswell and Maria Romero Vega, 20, of Gainesville, are both facing charges of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm.
The Johns Creek and Forsyth Task Force (JCaf), together with the DEA Atlanta Strike Force, FBI, and Appalachian Drug Task Force agents investigated further.
They uncovered a warehouse in Alpharetta and seized various drugs including cocaine and fentanyl. One male suspect was arrested at the scene.
The agents also went to Ellijay, Ga, where they found a methamphetamine lab. The Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office seized and retained several drug related items.
DEA Atlanta Strike Force agents went to a Buckhead apartment to confirm a stash house.They arrested a female suspect and found guns, drugs, and multiple leg chains and handcuffs.
Four arrests were made total and the female suspect was taken to Fulton County Jail. Read More
5. US marshal, murder suspect injured in shooting near Atlanta
A US marshal and a suspect in a killing were shot on Sunday as officers tried to arrest the man.
The marshal, along with other officers, was entering the home of 19–year–old Antonio Murgado to arrest him when he fired at the police. Officers fired back and Murgado was hit several times, according to investigators.
Both the officer and the suspect were taken to the hospital and are expected to recover. Read More
