HOSCHTON, Ga. — Jackson County fell Friday night at the hands of Mountain View in a 24-17 nailbiter.
The Panthers took an early 7-0 lead after the first quarter and doubled it early in the second period, but Mountain View answered, scoring a pair of touchdowns to tie it up at halftime.
Mountain View held a 21-17 lead early in the fourth before tacking on a field goal to get to the final score.
Jackson County's Chase Berrong was 24-for-43 for 228 yards passing with a touchdown pass to Jayden Hibbert. MJ Spurlin scored on a rushing touchdown, while Brice Rogers had a 34-yard field goal sail through the uprights.
Next week, Jackson County will open region play at home against North Forsyth.
