Posted 7:16PM on Tuesday 13th September 2022 ( 2 years ago )
A popular confectionary chain, Kilwins Chocolates, Fudge and Ice Cream, will soon place its roots in the Downtown Gainesville Renaissance building.

The sweets store is projected to open in 2023 after its custom renovation is complete. This site will feature an on-site, open confections kitchen.

Long-time Hall County residents Geina and Jeff Reed will own and operate the store. The Reids said they are excited to carry on Kilwin’s nostalgic Americana history and look forward to creating more sweet treats.

“Kilwins is a very special organization with a heritage of providing customers with high-quality products in a warm, friendly environment, and offering the best Chocolate, Made-In-Store Confections and Original Recipe Ice Cream,” the Reids said in a press release. “Along with Kilwins Heritage Chocolate and Ice Cream, many Kilwins items will be made right in our store, all from premium ingredients and original recipes developed in the 1940’s, including Fudge, Caramel Corn & Brittle, and Caramel Apples.”

Since 1947, Kilwins has opened 170 stores across the country that are located in 24 different states. Kilwins spokesman Brian Crawford said the company’s success is a testament to their store owners.

“Our quality products are the cornerstone of the Kilwins Brand,” Crawford said in a press release. “Kilwins’ success depends on caring Franchisee/Store Owners and their teams delivering outstanding service to bring the Kilwins Brand to life.  We believe that locating a Kilwins store on The Square in Gainesville will be a great addition to our store lineup and bring energy to the Square.  We welcome Jeff & Genia to the Kilwins Family."

The confectionary will bring the unique sparkle that Gainesville Renaissance owner Doug Ivester is looking for in his tenants.

“From the day Gainesville Renaissance Building was conceived, we intended to bring only the highest quality tenants to our spaces,” Ivester said in a press release. “Kilwins’ unique architecture, their interior design, and their offering of hand-made Confections and Ice Cream are a perfect fit for the Gainesville Square and for Gainesville Renaissance.  The Service provided by Jeff & Genia Reid will match the first class nature of Kilwins.”
Kilwins Chocolates, Fudge and Ice Cream will open in 2023 at the Gainesville Renaissance.
