The Brenau Board of Trustees welcomes new members Hart Wilheit Payne and John Addison who will begin their three-year terms in November 2022.
Addison was chosen based not only on his performance as an insurance magnate after having led Primerica Inc. to the success of their initial public offering in 2010 but also due to his distinguishing acts of service to Gainesville, the state of Georgia, and communities worldwide as a leadership mentor.
"I'm pleased that Brenau continues to recruit and retain high-quality trustees, and we are most fortunate to attract trustees of distinction." Brenau President, Anne Skleder, said.
Addison joined to help employ a new strategic plan to reach today's students where they are and show them how far they can go: "I want people to know that it's possible," Addison said, "...to access the best part of yourself and to go out into the world and truly lead with a heart of service."
Addison has been granted the revered title of 'Coach' by many who felt that he was helping them achieve their best.
"I'm always enthusiastic about sharing what I learned from notable leaders who went before me and adapting it for today's world. I think that Brenau University stands for many things that align with what I want to see for our future generations, and I could not be happier to be a part of such a wonderful institution with its roots planted right next to my own."
Payne Is a Gainesville native who served on several boards, such as Quinlan Visual Arts Center and Sisu, and is currently on the House Committee of Chattahoochee Country Club.
She has also volenteered within Gainesville and Hall County for the last 20 years, and been involved with local youth with her work as an auction chair for Lakeview Academy and as a Girl Scout leader.
Payne has also held a number of leadeship positions, including Northeast Georgia Medical Center Auxiliar since 1999.
As Brenau moves toward implementing its new strategy to reach and attract students from all walks of life, John Addison continues to bring his wisdom, combined with his down-home delivery, to help sow the seeds for the future.
