The Board of Directors of the M. Douglas & V. Kay Ivester Foundation announced Thursday that they have named Swinton A. Griffith, III the new Chief Financial Officer of the foundation. Griffith will carry the title of Senior Vice President.
Griffith retired as a Partner at Ernst & Young in 2010 after almost 30 years with the Firm, primarily serving in the Tax Division of the Firm.
“As the Ivester Foundation moves into its second decade, the Board felt it appropriate to formalize the responsibilities and authorities of members of the Board,” Lynn J. Darby, President of the Ivester Foundation, said. “Swinton has been with the Foundation since the beginning ... first working to help get the Foundation organized and approved; and, he has been on the Board since its formation. Swinton has gradually assumed more and more responsibilities for the Financial side of the Foundation. He is a critical part of our success so far ... and will continue to be.”
Griffith commented on his excitement saying: “It has been a great honor to serve on the Foundation Board and to be involved and engaged in the work of the Foundation in the Gainesville and Hall County area. The Foundation has grown rapidly over the last several years; and, we anticipate its continued growth for years to come.”
Griffith & his wife Amanda live in Duluth. They have a son and daughter-in-law in Atlanta and a daughter in Denver, Colorado. Griffith enjoys traveling in his spare time.
The Ivester Foundation, Inc. was established in 2011 and is dedicated to supporting the institutions that make the lives of the citizens of Gainesville & Hall County better. In addition to Darby and Griffith, the current board includes Brian K. Rochester, Oliver C. Murray and M. Douglas Ivester.
