JEFFERSON, Ga. – After Flowery Branch scored on the opening possession, Jefferson scored 41 straight in a 41-13 win over the Falcons Friday night at Memorial Stadium.
Malik Dryden opened the scoring with a 11-yard touchdown just 90 seconds into the night to give Flowery Branch a 7-0 lead. It was near the end of the first quarter before Jefferson answered as Sammy Brown exploded for a 65-yard touchdown run to tie the game up at 7-7.
Quarterback Gavin Markey gave the Dragons the lead early in the second on an 8-yard run before Dallas Russell scored just two minutes later to stretch the lead to 21-7. The game looked as if it would stay at that score going into halftime, but Talan Childress caught a 22-yard pass from Markey to push the lead to 28-7 at the halftime buzzer.
Markey threw two more touchdowns in the third quarter, one to Childress and one to Rodney Hinton to give the Dragons a 41-7 lead. Jeremiah Ware linked up with Josh Oliver late in the fourth quarter to round out the scoring.
Brown finished the night with 222 yards on 22 touches for Jefferson, while Oliver finished the night with 152 passing yards for Flowery Branch.
The Dragons will travel to Loganville next week, while the Falcons have the week off before playing host to Loganville.
