LOGANVILLE, Ga. – Cherokee Bluff couldn't complete the comeback as they fell to Walnut Grove, 21-16, Friday night.
The Bears held a 10-0 lead at halftime after a 1-yard run by Asher Wilson and a 44-yard field goal by Michael Arbour at the halftime horn. Walnut Grove answered with a big third quarter, scoring twice in the period to take a 14-10 lead and then again on the first play of the fourth to stretch that lead to 21-10.
Cherokee Bluff responded with a 30-yard pass from Wilson to Conner Hulsey with 9:36 to go, but a late interception halted the Bears' comeback attempt.
Hulsey finished with 87 yards on the ground and another 37 yards receiving.
The Bears will look to bounce back with a matchup at home against East Hall next week.
