A man from Athens was killed and three other people were injured after a series of collisions Tuesday afternoon on Commerce Road in Athens.
According to a press release from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department, police initially responded at about 5:40 p.m. to a two-vehicle crash at Commerce Road and Pinebluff Road. Jasmine Littlejohn, 30, of Athens, was driving a Chevrolet Malibu west on Pinebluff Road and allegedly pulled into the path of a semi-truck that was driving north on Commerce Road.
Both vehicles came to a stop in the Commerce Road turn lane at the intersection following the collision.
The driver of the semi-truck, Quentin Williams, 31, of Athens, was not injured. He exited his truck and crossed the street to a safer location, the nearby Shell gas station parking lot.
Shortly after, a co-worker of Williams', Robert White, 59, of Watkinsville, joined Williams in the Shell parking lot.
Witnesses told police the two men then walked across Commerce Road to check on Littlejohn. While crossing the roadway, a Chevrolet Tahoe driven by John Trim, 37, of Jefferson, collided with Williams and White.
Williams was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. White was also transported for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Littlejohn was transported to a hospital with serious injuries and was listed in critical condition. A passenger in Littlejohn's vehicle was treated for minor injuries.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information should contact Sgt. Schulte at [email protected] or by phone at 762-400-7093.
