Gwinnett County has been awarded $200,000 in federal funding that will go toward roadway safety projects in the county.
According to a report from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the funding comes from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safe Streets and Roads for All grant program.
The funds are expected to improve existing roadway safety projects. They will also help communities that do not have an existing roadway safety plan.
The county will contribute $50,000 as a local match to create the Countywide Safety Action Plan. This plan focuses on measures to prevent roadway deaths and injuries on county-maintained roads and state routes.
