GAINESVILLE, Ga. — East Forsyth used a three-run fifth inning to rally past North Hall and hold on for a 4-2 win at Lynn Cottrell Field on Wednesday.
The Broncos evened the series 1-1, with the rubber match set for Friday at East Forsyth. More importantly, the win lifts the Broncos into third place in the Region 8-4A North standings, one game ahead of the Trojans.
North Hall led 2-1 going into the fifth inning but gave up a single from Joseph Gurr, and Blake Riley was hit by a pitch. Owen McGee then ripped a single that scored Gurr to tie the game. That was the start of the three-run flurry from the Broncos. Trey Farr drove Riley home on the next at-bat with a ground out to second, then Will Moffitt singled to left field to score McGee for the 4-2 lead.
Farr shut the Trojans down over the next two innings to get the win. Farr went the distance on the mound for the Broncos, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out two.
Gurr led the Broncos at the plate, going 3-for-3, while McGee recorded two hits and two RBIs. Farr and Moffit added one hit each. Jon Jon Read drove in North Hall's two runs.

EAST HALL 3
Jake Hitchcock's two-run scoring triple in the sixth inning pushed the War Eagles ahead for good in the win over East Hall on Wednesday at the Lynn Cottrell Complex.
The game was tied 3-3 going into the bottom of the sixth inning when Chestatee (9-5, 5-2) grabbed the lead and held on.
The win keeps the War Eagles in second place in the Region 8-4A North standings and third in the overall standings.
The Vikings (4-10, 1-6) grabbed the lead early when Walker Barrett singled in the first inning.
Hitchcock picked up the win for the War Eagles, allowing three runs on four hits while striking out 13. Colton Wilbanks threw one inning in relief for Chestatee.
Wilbanks went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the War Eagles at the plate.
Carter Gillespie was 2-for-3 to lead the Vikings.
NORTH FORSYTH 5,
GAINESVILLE 2
North Forsyth scored three runs in the second inning to set the pace in the win against Gainesville at home on Wednesday.
Jordan Cox and C Seabold drove in runs in the second inning and scored the third on an error to go up 3-0.
The Raiders added one more run in the third and fifth inning.
Gainesville added a run in the fourth and seventh.
Brayden Seabold was 2-for-3 with one RBI. Billy Mason and Logan Curry finished with two hits, and Jordan Cox added a hit and one RBI.
Cooper Reid was 2-for-3 with one RBI to lead the Red Elephants. Smith McGarvey and Branson Crawford recorded one hit each.
BUFORD 14,
MOUNTAIN VIEW 2
The Wolves exploded for 14 hits in 6 innings, including an inside-the-park walk-off grand slam homerun by senior Brandon Taliaferro to even the series against Mountain View at Gerald McQuaig Field on Wednesday.
Taliaferro was an RBI machine, driving in five on two hits to lead Buford to the blowout win over the Bears. Taliaferro drove in runs on a single in the second and a grand slam in the sixth. His home run in the 6th pushed the Wolves over the run-rule limit and ended the game.
Buford pulled away with five runs in the second inning, with Cole Taylor, Sam Humphrey, Taliaferro, Cannon and Ethan Murray recording RBI singles in the inning.
Buford tallied five runs in the sixth inning, with Taylor and Taliaferro driving in runs in the inning.
Nate Taylor earned the win for the Wolves, his third win of the season. The righthander lasted five innings, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out 11. Davis Church threw one inning in relief.
Taylor, Goldin, Taylor, and Taliaferro each had multiple hits for Buford, while Goldin and Taylor all had three hits.
