Dawson County Government issued an alert Tuesday afternoon stating a controlled burn is expected to be held Thursday on a property near Ga 136.
According to a social media post from the county, the Georgia Forestry Commission will be conducting the 130-acre controlled burn on Burt Creek Road near Ga 136 and out to Shoal Creek.
Heavy smoke and some fire will be visible on Ga 136 and Burt Creek Road.
The county recommended avoiding the area Thursday if possible.
The burn will be conducted if weather permits.
