An Elbert County woman was seriously injured after a semi-truck reportedly struck her farm tractor Thursday afternoon on Ga 77.
According to a press release from the Georgia State Patrol, Elizabeth Peters, 66, of Dewey Rose, GA, was driving a John Deere tractor north on Ga 77 just after 4 p.m. Peters was attempting to turn left onto a private driveway.
Michael Lee Firebaugh, 60, of Spartanburg, SC, was driving a semi-truck behind Peters' tractor and attempted to pass the John Deere on a double-yellow centerline. The front of the semi-truck struck the left side of the tractor as the tractor was attempting to turn left.
The impact caused the tractor to split into two. Peters was life-flighted to Greenville Memorial Hospital with suspected serious injuries, while Firebaugh was not injured.
The crash remains under investigation. All charges are pending until the investigation is complete.
